Law firms · South Orange County

Your clients trust you with what they can't tell anyone else. Does your IT earn that trust, or just assume it?

Matters in Clio, documents in NetDocuments, time in Tabs3, and work that happens in the office, at the courthouse and from home.

Showing reasonable efforts

s90 manages IT for business, transactional and litigation law firms in south Orange County. We run your systems end to end, work around trial dates and closings, and deliver a quarterly report with evidence of the reasonable efforts you make to protect client confidences.

Does this sound familiar?

Privileged emails, discovery files and client documents on every laptop and phone, software licenses that renew whether anyone uses them or not, and staff trying AI tools nobody has vetted. Someone handles your IT, but when a client sends a security questionnaire, or your partners ask whether you're paying for the right things, the honest answer is a guess.

I'm trusting it on faith.
I couldn't show it if someone asked.

Most law firms have someone handling their IT. Tickets come in, tickets get closed, and nobody asks whether the firm is safer, spending well or able to show its work. Having someone handle your IT isn't the same as having your IT managed.

Proof before a client's security questionnaire arrives

Asking your provider for proof is awkward. You shouldn't have to.

Your clients trust you with confidential information, the deals that shape their business and the disputes that could change it. Your reputation rests on discretion, preparation and reliability, so your IT should be able to prove it. We hold ourselves to the standard you hold for your clients: ready when a filing deadline or trial date won't move, keeping you ahead of what's changing in your profession, and working alongside you toward the goals you're building.

How switching works

Three steps, planned around trial dates and closings.

If it's in the table below, we already support it. We coordinate the switch with your previous provider, your staff and your software vendors, and your handoff happens after hours, so Monday looks like Friday.

01 · Baseline

See where you stand

Before anything changes, we review your setup and give you your Baseline Posture Score, a score out of 100 taken before we take over. You see where you stand, and exactly what we're taking on.

02 · Handoff

Seamless switch

We coordinate with your current provider and cut over when it's not disruptive. We schedule your handoff around the dates that you can't move.

03 · Ownership

We own it from here

Support, security, maintenance and planning are ours. Every quarter your Technology Posture Report arrives, and your Technology Adviser walks you through it: what changed, what it means for you, and what we recommend next.

Before you switch

You get a dated plan before anything changes, built around your trial dates, filing deadlines and closings. Tools are swapped one at a time, and your staff are trained on anything new before they need it.

What's at stake for your clients

What it costs when nobody owns your firm's IT.

The slow leak

Paying for software licenses nobody uses, aging laptops that slow down billable hours, and staff pasting client matters into AI tools nobody approved.

The sudden hit

Ransomware the week of a filing deadline, privileged communications exposed, one spoofed email redirecting settlement or trust account funds.

When someone owns your IT

Every device, license and login accounted for. Laptops that keep up with your billable hours. Software spend you can see and control. Recovery plans that have actually been tested, so a filing deadline never depends on luck. Support around the clock, in your office and through self-service for everyday requests. And proof in hand that's never more than three months old, so when a client sends a security questionnaire or your insurer asks about your controls, the answer is already on your desk. You know your IT is taken care of.

Showing reasonable efforts

For firms that need to prove it

No law tells your firm which security framework to use. What you do have is your duty to keep what clients tell you confidential, and to make reasonable efforts to protect it (Cal. Bus. & Prof. Code 6068(e), California Rule of Professional Conduct 1.1, and ABA Model Rule 1.6(c)). A recognized framework, NIST CSF 2.0 or CIS Controls, is how you show those efforts, and we'll help you choose the one that fits. If your litigation practice handles medical records, or your firm meets the CCPA's thresholds, those can be added. From there, we provide current evidence that your controls are in place and working. The person in charge of compliance at your firm decides whether you're compliant.

What's at stake

Failing a client's security questionnaire and losing the work, a claim your insurer won't pay because a control you listed wasn't in place, or explaining to a court how discovery material under a protective order got out.
